The Brief

A full renovation of the Dawson clinical psychophysiology lab in UBC's Douglas T. Kenny Building, in the Department of Psychology. Enduro stripped the existing partitions, ceilings, doors and millwork and rebuilt the suite with new partitions, millwork, ceilings, finishes and lighting, then re-worked the mechanical, plumbing and sprinkler services to suit the new lab layout — delivered to a controlled, low-noise research standard.

Scope of Work

  • Full strip-out & rebuild — demolished the existing partitions, ceilings, doors and millwork across the lab suite, then framed and finished new partition walls and ceilings for the reconfigured layout.
  • Custom lab millwork & casework — new benching, cabinets and display millwork coordinated to the research equipment, card-reader and data-room layouts.
  • Mechanical & HVAC modification — existing mechanical systems modified and new components installed to suit the lab's environmental and ventilation needs.
  • Electrical, lighting & low-voltage — new lighting and power, lab-equipment circuits, and card-reader and data-room provisions, including emergency-circuit and exit-sign upgrades.
  • Plumbing & sprinkler re-work — existing plumbing fixtures replaced with new, and the existing sprinkler system modified for the revised partition layout.
  • Hazardous-materials abatement — pre-construction abatement with a WorkSafeBC Notice of Project filed before demolition began.
  • Finishes, flooring & paint — new flooring, painting and acoustic/architectural finishes to suit a quiet psychophysiology testing environment.
  • Doors, hardware & privacy film — doors, frames and hardware, with privacy and graphic glazing film across the lab and testing rooms.
