The Brief
A third-floor research-lab renovation in UBC's Chemistry A Block, Chemistry & Physics Building on University Boulevard. Enduro delivered as general contractor to Chernoff Thompson Architects' design — rebuilding multiple chemistry labs and write-up rooms with new lab casework, fume-hood finishes and full mechanical, electrical and plumbing services — and reached certificate of completion in February 2025.

Scope of Work
- Multi-room chemistry-lab rebuild — renovated chemistry labs and write-up rooms across the A Block 3rd floor on a phased, occupied-building schedule.
- Lab casework & fume-hood finishes — chem-surf laminate countertops, backsplashes with speed-brace supports, upper cabinets, a glassware storage cabinet and blue fume-hood finishes.
- Write-up workstations — acrylic modular desk partitions and work-counter casework for the write-up stations serving the lab benches.
- Electrical services — 600-amp, 600-volt 3-phase electrical works — lighting and lab-equipment power throughout the suite.
- Plumbing, HVAC & fume extraction — plumbing and HVAC rough-in and final connections, ductwork, balancing/commissioning and fume-extraction arm installation.
- Stainless drip trays & specialties — stainless drip trays / drip pans, Class-D fire extinguishers and lab specialty fittings for safe chemical handling.
- Painting & flooring — painting (white walls/trim, blue fume hoods, alpine-white scheme) and flooring repairs and polishing across the labs.
- Whiteboards, hardware & shades — whiteboards, door-hardware install and roller shades completing the renovated teaching-and-research environment.
